Martin Ramharter
La ilustre escaramuza sobre la dignidad de la revuelta
P[r]inturas negras
A visual response to political upheavals and democratic erosion, inspired by Goya’s black paintings.
ABOUT
Works moving between intellect and instinct – shaped by thought, expressed in paint.
Martin Ramharter (*1980 in Vienna) is an Austrian artist and intellectual.
P[r]inturas are pieces of art at the crossroads of painting, print and performance.
Brushing, dripping, and tossing paint on canvas and printing and moving one canvas over another, often in multiple layers, creates vibrant and dynamic works between directed chance and playful necessity.
ART
Explorations of color, structure and reason –
layered across canvas.
APPROPRIATIONS
Appropriations, inspired by Central and Eastern Asian art and travels to China, Japan, Korea and Uzbekistan, invite to silent observation and contemplation.
P[R]INTURAS NEGRAS
P[r]inturas negras, a homage to Francisco de Goya y Lucientes, raise questions of resistance and humanity in times of multiple crises, social isolation, erosion of democracy and geopolitical upheavals.
